What Australian Made merchandise costs

A real worked example

500 round fridge magnets come to $215 plus GST, which is 43 cents each. Australian Made lanyards, magnets, printed items and stationery are all competitive on price. Where local manufacturing costs more is on anything with a lot of assembly, because labour here is not cheap. On printed and die-cut items the gap is small or nonexistent.

Where local wins on price

Anything printed, die cut or assembled from sheet material tends to be competitive, because you are not paying to ship air across an ocean. Magnets, lanyards, stickers, pads and printed stationery all fit here. Anything moulded, electronic or sewn is usually cheaper offshore, so expect a real premium on those.

Where local wins on time

The biggest practical advantage is lead time. An offshore indent order runs eight to twelve weeks. Australian Made stock lines run in the same seven to ten working days as everything else, and rush work is genuinely possible because the factory is in the same time zone. If you have an event date, this is the range to look at first.

What Australian Made actually means

The Australian Made flag on these products comes from the supplier’s own certification. Be careful with the difference between made here and assembled or decorated here. If your tender requires certified Australian Made rather than locally decorated, tell us and we will only quote items that carry the certification, and get it in writing.

Where Australian Made matters

Government and council tenders

Local content is often a scored criterion. Being able to name the manufacturer and the certification in your submission is worth real points.

Defence and critical services

Where supply chain origin is part of the requirement rather than a preference.

Schools and P&C groups

Where parents ask, and where the answer becomes part of the fundraising message.

Primary producers and food brands

Businesses whose whole product story is local and whose merchandise cannot contradict it.

Tight deadlines

Any job where an eight week offshore lead time simply does not fit the event date.

Small runs

Local manufacturing handles a run of 250 far better than an offshore container order does.

How ordering works

We produce and deliver

Standard production is about seven to ten working days after approval, plus freight. Tell us your deadline up front and we will only quote what can make it.

Artwork for promotional products

Send a vector file: EPS, AI or PDF with the fonts outlined. A JPG or PNG taken off a website cannot be screen printed or engraved cleanly at product size. Send your brand colours as Pantone references too, because decoration is colour matched to Pantone rather than CMYK, and a colour that looks right on screen will not necessarily mix the same in ink.

Decoration areas are smaller than people expect. If your logo has fine detail, small type or a tagline, it may need simplifying to survive at 35mm wide. We will tell you before you commit, and you will see it on the mockup at actual size. If all you have is a low resolution logo, say so and we will redraw it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Australian Made more expensive?

On printed, die cut and sheet based products, often not. Magnets, lanyards and printed stationery are competitive. On moulded, electronic or sewn products there is usually a real premium, because labour and manufacturing costs here are higher.

How fast is Australian Made compared to imported?

Much faster on indent work. An offshore indent order takes eight to twelve weeks. Australian Made runs in the same seven to ten working days as our standard stock lines, and rush jobs are actually possible.

Does Australian Made mean the whole product is made here?

Not always, which is why the distinction matters. Some products are manufactured here, others are decorated or assembled here from imported components. If your tender requires certified Australian Made, tell us and we will only quote certified items and get the certification in writing.

What Australian Made products do you have?

Magnets, lanyards, printed items, stationery, keyrings and a range of promotional print. Eighty-eight products in total, all flagged in the range so you can see them together.

Can you supply certification for a tender?

For certified products yes. Ask before you order so we can confirm the supplier will provide it in the form your tender requires.

What is the minimum order?

Similar to the imported equivalents, usually 100 to 500 units depending on the product. Local manufacturing often handles small runs better than offshore does.

Do you have Australian Made fridge magnets?

Yes, and they are among the best value items in the whole range at well under a dollar each in volume. See the dedicated fridge magnets page for the full magnet lineup and sizes.
