DTF PRINTING SUNSHINE COAST

DTF stands for direct to film. Your artwork is printed onto a film, then heat pressed onto the garment. There are no screens to make, so there is no setup fee to spread over your order. That makes DTF the best choice for small runs, full colour artwork and personalised names. We press DTF in house, so we check every garment ourselves before it goes out.

What DTF is good at

Small runs

With no screens, a run of 10 shirts costs about the same per shirt as a run of 50. It starts making sense from about 10 garments, and it suits size top ups when you need four more shirts, not forty.

Full colour artwork

Photos, gradients and detailed logos print in one pass. Embroidery and screen print struggle with this kind of artwork.

Names and numbers

Every garment can carry a different name or number at no extra setup. That is why sports teams, clubs and school leavers use it.

Most fabrics

DTF works on cotton, polyester and blends, so it suits tees, polos, hoodies, activewear and many bags.

Where DTF is not the best fit

Very large runs

On hundreds of the same simple design, screen printing usually wins on cost and feel. See our screen printing page.

Heavy daily washing

A cured transfer holds up well, but embroidery lasts longer on garments that go through a hot commercial wash every day. See our logo embroidery page.

Heavily textured knits

The film needs a fairly smooth surface to grip. On a chunky knit we will usually suggest embroidery or a patch.

Garments that suit dtf transfer

Popular styles from our range. Prices are for the blank garment, inc GST, with bulk savings from 10 pieces. Your logo is quoted on top.

How ordering works

Tell us what you need

Pick the garments below and send them through, or just describe the job. Headcount, rough sizes, how many logo positions and your deadline are enough to start.

We quote it properly

We price the garment, the decoration and the freight to your address as one number, and we confirm the real minimum order and lead time for your job rather than a general one.

Approve your mockup

You get a visual showing your logo in position and at actual size on the garment you chose. Nothing is stitched or pressed until you approve it.

We produce and deliver

As a guide, ten to fifteen business days from artwork approval, plus freight. The clock starts at approval, not at order, and supplier stock is the usual cause of a delay.

Local to the Sunshine Coast

We work with businesses, clubs and churches right across the Sunshine Coast: Caloundra, Baringa and Aura, Kawana, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Buderim, Sippy Downs, Nambour, Coolum, Noosa, Beerwah and the hinterland. We deliver Caloundra orders ourselves. Most other orders go by courier, and we send Australia wide. We are Sunshine Coast owned, and we meet customers face to face when a job needs it.

DTF is the one method we run in house. That means we can check the colour, position and press of every garment before it is packed.

Frequently asked questions

What does DTF mean?

Direct to film. Your design is printed onto a special film, coated with an adhesive powder, cured, then heat pressed onto the garment.

Is there a minimum order for DTF?

There is no setup to cover, so there is effectively no minimum. It starts making sense from about 10 garments, and we can do smaller numbers for top ups and reorders.

Is DTF better than screen printing?

For small runs, full colour artwork and personalised names, yes. For large runs of a simple one or two colour design, screen printing is usually better value. Tell us your design and numbers and we will tell you which we would pick.

Will DTF crack or peel?

A properly pressed and cured DTF transfer is flexible and holds up well in normal washing. Wash inside out in cold or warm water, and do not iron directly over the print.

Can you add names and numbers?

Yes. Each garment can carry its own name or number. Send us the list with sizes when you ask for a quote.

How long does DTF take?

As a guide, 10 to 15 business days from when you approve the artwork, plus freight. Garment stock is the most common cause of a delay. If you have a deadline, tell us up front.

Ready to kit out the team?

Send us the headcount, the garments you like and your deadline. We will come back with a real number, including freight to your address.
