It sits on a counter, goes in a mail-out, gets handed across a table at an expo, and it does the explaining when you are not in the room. The trick is choosing a fold that suits how much you have to say, and a stock that feels like the business you are.

Look at the jump from 250 to 1,000. You get four times the brochures for about a quarter more money, because setup and folding setup are most of the cost. If there is any chance you will reprint inside twelve months, print the bigger run now.
Brochure pricing starts from $228. Simpler folds and lighter stocks come in under the example above, heavier 250gsm gloss and larger A3 folds sit over it.
A4 roll fold to DL, the classic trifold. Six panels, finishes at DL so it fits a standard envelope and a brochure stand. The default choice for a service business: cover, three panels of detail, and a back panel for contact details.
A4 Z fold to DL. Same six panels, but it concertinas instead of wrapping. Every panel opens flat at once, so it suits a step-by-step sequence, a timeline or a price list where the reader wants to see everything together.
A4 folded in half to A5. Four big panels. The best choice when photography is doing the selling, so real estate, tourism, weddings, venues and menus.
A3 folded in half to A4. Four A4 panels, a serious document. Use it for capability statements, annual reports and property campaigns where you want size to signal substance.
A5 folded in half to A6. Small, cheap and easy to hand out or letterbox. Good for events, promotions and anything going into a bag.
115gsm gloss is the mail-out and letterbox weight. Light, cheapest to post, perfectly good print quality. It will feel flimsy in the hand, which is fine when it is going in a letterbox.
150gsm gloss is the sweet spot and the most ordered. It holds a fold cleanly, feels like a real brochure, and still posts economically.
170gsm gloss or matt gives you a noticeably more substantial piece. Choose matt if there is a lot of body text, because gloss reflects under downlights and makes small type harder to read. Choose gloss if photography is the point, because it makes colour sing.
250gsm gloss is nearly card. Use it for a single-fold premium piece that will be handed over rather than posted. It is the right call for high-value services where the paper is part of the pitch.

Folded work is where most artwork problems happen, because panels on a folded piece are not all the same width. On a roll fold the panel that tucks inside has to be a couple of millimetres narrower, or the fold will not close. Our templates already account for this.
Two things catch people out. First, colour set in RGB will shift when it converts to CMYK, and rich blues and bright oranges shift the most. Second, a black built from all four inks looks muddy on small text, so keep body copy on 100% black only.

Every file is preflight-checked by a person before it goes anywhere near a press, and you approve a digital proof before we print. If something in your file is going to cause a problem we will tell you and suggest the fix, rather than printing it and hoping.

Because setup dominates. Getting the job on press and setting the folder costs the same whether you print 250 or 1,000, and the paper is a small part of the total. If there is any chance you will reprint within twelve months, the bigger run is almost always the better buy.
150gsm gloss is the most ordered and suits most jobs. Use 115gsm for letterbox and mail-outs, 170gsm matt when there is a lot of body text to read, 170gsm gloss when photography is the point, and 250gsm gloss for a premium single-fold piece that gets handed over rather than posted.
Matt is easier to read, because gloss reflects under downlights and makes small type harder work. Gloss makes photographs and strong colour look richer. If your brochure is mostly words, choose matt. If it is mostly pictures, choose gloss.

On a roll fold the inner panel wraps inside the others, so it has to be slightly narrower or the brochure will not close flat. It is the single most common artwork problem we see on folded work. Our templates already have the allowance built in.
